Precise Mechanical is an independent liquid ring vacuum pump repair and manufacturing company in Houston, Texas. For over four decades we have torn down, rebuilt and replaced Nash® and Somarakis® pumps for paper mills, power plants, refineries and chemical plants across the United States. We are not tied to any manufacturer, and we run our own heavy machine shop, so the decisions we make are about your pump, not a service-center rulebook.
Our Story
How We Started
Precise Mechanical Sales & Service, Inc. was founded in Houston to do one thing well: repair liquid ring vacuum pumps to original specifications without the cost and delays of going back to the factory. Cast iron repair is considered by many to be a lost art. Precise Mechanical performs these operations on a daily basis, and that skill is still the foundation of the business.
Over the years the shop grew from repair into manufacturing. Today we clad, machine and assemble complete drop-in replacement pumps, and we keep rebuilt exchange units on the shelf so a plant never has to wait on a factory lead time.

Who We Are
Ken Tittel leads the company and answers the emergency line himself. Ken has spent his career inside Nash and Somarakis pumps, and the technicians, machinists and welders around him have been rebuilding the same pump families long enough to know what fails, why it fails, and how to make it better.
The person who quotes your job is the person who can walk into the shop and look at your rotor.

Pulp and paper is our largest industry. Vacuum pumps on paper machines run continuously in hard water and stock carryover, and they fail in ways we have rebuilt hundreds of times.

Houston Shop, Nationwide Reach
Where We Work
The shop is in Houston, within a few hours' drive of the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast mills, refineries and chemical plants. Most of our pumps, though, arrive by freight from across the country. We ship rebuilt, exchange and new pumps nationwide from Houston and receive pumps from anywhere in the United States.

Our machine shop is sized for the largest liquid ring pumps in service.
120" Vertical Boring Mill Swing
240" Lathe Between Centers
400 Ton Horizontal Hydraulic Press
A Cincinnati vertical boring mill with a 120-inch swing and 100 inches under the rail handles CL14000-class casings and cones. Lathes run up to 65-inch swing and 240 inches between centers. A 400-ton horizontal hydraulic wheel press, 30 feet long, handles the rotor and shaft work most repair shops have to send out.
We also run a CNC plasma table, a 10-foot plate roll, and MIG and TIG welding for cladding and cast iron repair.

Not Tied to a Manufacturer
Precise Mechanical is not a Nash or Somarakis authorized service center, and we never have been. That independence is why we can clad a cast iron cone in 316L instead of selling you a new one, rebuild a series the factory calls obsolete, or ship an exchange unit instead of quoting a factory lead time.
No ties to a manufacturer, boxes to stay inside of, antiquated rules to follow, or slow and costly timelines.
