Rebuild, exchange, or replace
Choosing The Right Path

Rebuild, exchange, or replace

Rebuild when the castings are sound and the outage allows it. Exchange when the pump needs to be back on its foundation in days and your size is on our shelf. Replace when the pump is obsolete, the castings are beyond repair, or you want a stainless or upgraded-material pump. Send us the nameplate and operating data and we will tell you which one makes sense.

Industries we serve
Built for demanding Industries

Industries we serve

Pulp and paper is our primary industry: couch rolls, uhle boxes, felt conditioning and dryer sections run on liquid ring pumps, and when one fails the machine slows or stops. We also serve power generation (condenser exhausting), chemical and petrochemical processing, refineries, oil and gas vapor recovery, mining, food, beverage and pharmaceutical vacuum drying, and general industrial vacuum.

Why an independent shop
Independent and Unbiased

Why an independent shop

No ties to a manufacturer, boxes to stay inside of, antiquated rules to follow, or slow and costly timelines. We are not an authorized service center for Nash or Somarakis, and that is deliberate. It lets us repair what the OEM would rather replace, reverse engineer parts the OEM no longer supports, and upgrade a cast iron pump with stainless steel cladding instead of quoting you a new one.

  • Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you repair liquid ring vacuum pumps from all manufacturers?

Yes. We repair and rebuild Nash, Gardner Denver Nash, Somarakis, SIHI, Siemens, Graham, Travaini and Vooner liquid ring vacuum pumps and compressors. Our machine shop is sized for the largest pumps in the world, so pump size is not a limitation.

Are you a Nash or Somarakis authorized service center?

No. Precise Mechanical is an independent repair and manufacturing company with over 40 years of experience on these pumps. Being independent lets us repair components the OEM would replace, reverse engineer obsolete parts, and manufacture our own drop-in replacement pumps.

Can you replace my pump instead of repairing it?

Yes. We manufacture drop-in replacements for Nash CL, 2BE, AT, SC, 904 and HC series and for Somarakis SV and HV series, designed to fit the existing piping and baseplate with minimal or no modification. We also keep rebuilt exchange units in stock for many common sizes.

Do you only serve Houston and Texas?

No. We are based in Houston and serve the Texas Gulf Coast directly, but we receive pumps by freight from mills and plants across the United States and ship rebuilt, exchange and new pumps nationwide.

What should I send you to get a quote?

The pump make, model and serial number, a photo of the nameplate, and a short description of the problem. If you have the original performance curve or the current operating conditions (inlet vacuum, seal water temperature, motor amps), include those too.

What happens if my pump fails outside business hours?

Call Ken directly at 713-201-1589. That line is for down-pump situations. [CONFIRM: 24/7 answering or same-day callback.] Have the pump model and a description of the failure ready so we can start on an exchange or rebuild plan immediately.
