Can you package a pump I already own?

Yes. Skids are cut on our 5 ft by 10 ft CNC plasma table, formed on our 10 ft plate roll, and welded with MIG and TIG in the same Houston shop that builds and repairs the pumps. Mounting pads are machined on our own mills so alignment holds after installation.

Required capacity, operating vacuum, gas composition, seal water source and temperature, motor voltage, and the footprint and connection points available. If you are replacing an existing skid, a photo of the pump nameplate and the old arrangement drawing are the most useful starting points.

Packaged Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump Systems

A packaged liquid ring vacuum pump system is a complete, skid-mounted unit: the vacuum pump, its motor and drive, seal water handling, separator, manifolds and controls, assembled and tested as one piece of equipment. Precise Mechanical designs and fabricates these packages in Houston around a new, rebuilt or exchange pump, and ships them nationwide. Each package is engineered with your engineering department and built from whichever component manufacturers your plant standardizes on.

We are an independent shop, so the package is not limited to one pump brand or one motor catalog. If your plant runs Nash® CL pumps on the paper machine and Somarakis® units on the process side, we can package either, and we can put a Precise-manufactured drop-in replacement on the skid in place of the original.

What a package can include

Every package starts with the pump and the duty point. From there, the scope is whatever the installation needs, from a bare pump and motor on a common base to a fully instrumented skid with variable frequency drive, seal water recirculation and a control panel.

Components are supplied by the manufacturers you name. If the plant has a preferred motor brand, a standard VFD, or a spec for coupling guards, we build to it. If you have no preference, we recommend from what we have seen hold up in the same service.

How the design process works

Packages are engineered jointly with the customer's engineering department. We do not hand you a catalog drawing and ask you to make it fit.

The process begins with the duty: required capacity, operating vacuum, gas composition, seal water source and temperature, and any compressor-mode discharge pressure. From that, we select or build the pump and size the motor and drive. Our engineering department then lays out the skid around your footprint, connection points and access requirements, and issues a general arrangement drawing for review.

You review the drawing, mark it up, and we revise it until it is approved. Only then does fabrication start. Components are ordered from the manufacturers specified on the approved drawing, and the pump is built or rebuilt in our shop while the skid is fabricated. The package is assembled, aligned and checked as a unit before it is crated for shipment.

Fabrication capability

Skid fabrication is done in-house, in the same shop that repairs and manufactures the pumps. That keeps the schedule in one place and lets the pump and the base be built to each other.

The same machine tools that let us rebuild the largest liquid ring pumps in service also let us machine motor mounting pads flat and true on a skid, which is what keeps alignment stable after installation.
